Cheese of the Month

ARDRAHAN

This rind cheese is produced by Mary Burns near Kanturk in County Cork, Ireland, using cow's milk and animal rennet. The flavours are subtler than the smell suggests with a characteristic earthiness and pungency. It is rich, soft and curdy with smoky, lactic flavours.

We sell a select choice of charcuterie, traiteur, antipasti, cheese and smoked fish along with fresh pastas, pestos and dips, and the tastiest ready-meals you’re ever likely to find! In addition, we stock a variety of oils, vinegars, accompaniments and condiments, not forgetting a dresser overflowing with sweet treats and a table laden with breads, pastries, quiches and salads. Also available is a small but carefully chosen range of wines, sumptuous bouquets of flowers, and an increasing array of gifts.

We have tried to stay British and local where possible, though we do of course stock French, Italian and Spanish essentials and favourites.

Much of our jam and chutney comes from Vanessa at De Beauvoir Kitchen based on De Beauvoir Road, our cakes are baked locally by a variety of baking enthusiasts, we stock a number of products produced by The Scolt Head around the corner, and our bread arrives fresh daily from Euphorium on Upper Street.

BODEGAS BAGORDI RIOJA COSECHA

Bodegas Bagordi is situated on Rioja's far north eastern edge along the River Ega in the beautiful Baztan valley. It was created in 1995 when several local winegrowers joined forces, combining their vineyards and building a state of the art cellar.   This Rioja is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Grenache.   It has intense blackberry and raspberry fruit with light hints of spice.
